Description: We investigated the correlations in the formation of NO-ergic system of the frontal hypothalamus of bird and human embryos. It has been shown that the subthalamic area of duck embryos contains NADFH-d/СNO-positive neurons beginning from the 23-rd day, which corresponds to the third trimester of development. It was also found out that a 90-day-old human embryo (the first trimester of development) comprises NO-containing neurons in the nucleuses of the frontal hypothalamus. The data obtained testify to rather earlier origin of NO-ergic system of the human frontal hypothalamus as compared with birds. Taking into account the data that NO is one of the major factors participating in the development of the central nervous system, it is possible to assume that due to the early appearance of NADFH-d/CNO more perfect development of the human nervous system became possible.
