A number of the experiments proved the importance of plasminogen (Pg), its active form, plasmin, plasmin activators and activators inhibitors for the physiology and pathology of the nervous system. It is known, that reactive oxygen species (ROS) can modulate the Pg action. In the given research we observed the evidence that Pg can sustain the viability of glioma C6 and neuroblastoma IMR-32 in the serum-free medium, as well as protect the cells of the rat sympathetic ganglia from the destructive action of the hydrogen peroxide. This fact has a particular significance because of ROS action in the development of the neurodegeneration.ru
