One of the techniques used in the complex therapy of malignant neoplasms is applying ionizing radiation to increase the lethality of cells affected by a malignant tumor. The compound of lithium and oxyglycine will reduce the radiation dose necessary to achieve positive dynamics in the treatment of tumors and help to keep the cognitive functions of the central nervous system. The study drug was administered parenterally (intraperitoneally) to the animals of the experimental groups at doses of 120, 70, and 40 mg/kg. 25 days after irradiation, all animals in all three experimental groups died, and in the control group 7 animals were alive. The minimum of the tested doses of the drug (40 mg/kg of live weight) showed the maximum biological effect. Protecting cognitive functions and lower-ing the radiation dose, while still achieving a positive clinical effect, is a promising direction in radiobiology.ru
