Historical features are significant factors for the development of tourism. They largely determine the trends and directions of its evolution. On the development of the Belarusian tourism today is greatly in-fluenced by the «Soviet historical experience» associated with the operation of the tourism sector in the Byelorussian SSR. This applies especially to the Belarusian tourism statistics, the negative balance of international tourism, the prevalence of informal tourism in the framework of the CIS. Belarusian tourism development largely follows the path of overcoming the Soviet stereotypes regarding tourism: tourism as a social sphere to the tourism business.
