Abstract

The aim of the research was to study the performance of rumen digestion of calves by using feeds with different protein degradability. It is determined that a decrease in the level of protein degradation due to changes in the percentage ratio of DP:NDP at 9 and 12% in animals of II and III experimental groups increases the concentration of VFA at 15 and 13% in comparison to similar control group. The greatest number of ciliates was observed in animals of II and III experimental group, which is 15% higher than this figure, relative to control one. Reduction of degradable protein by 9 and 12% in the diets of animals of II and III experimental groups leads to a decrease in ammonia levels by 17 and 15% relative to control one. Ratio of DP:NDP 72:28 in diets of animals of I control group led to the waste of feed protein, as evidenced by low levels of total nitrogen in the rumen contents.
